The black town car dropped off Sienna at the exclusive Amsden Apartments at Belgrave Square, London. The neighborhood did not look like a place that her best friend would live at. The place was posh, sleek and sophisticated but in a very old school kind of way, different from anything in New York. The streets were decorated beautifully with perfectly manicured plants. The building itself was massive and looked like it had not change since the early 19th century.
Sienna took of her Fendi sunglasses and walked into the apartment with confidence. But deep down inside, she was far from happy. She had to keep herself together and stay strong. Who knew what could happen to her if everyone in the society knew about her vulnerability.
This was a new start for her. She was in a new city and a different environment. Sienna needed to keep her cool and one of the only person that can save her from the brink of insanity was her best friend.
Wearing a red strapless bohemian dress and gold Grecian inspired stilettos, Julez looked like a pool of blood in a field of snow. She was alone except for the 2 bodyguards that were somewhere nearby. She immediately stood up, the moment she caught sight of Sienna.
Julez looked at her best friend and could not help but feel sorry for her. Sienna already went to through a lot and breaking up with Darius did not make it better. Sienna walked with sanguine but Julez knew deep down inside she was tearing apart.
“ You know, you should be an actress because you don’t look like you’re heartbroken, ” said Julez sarcastically as she gave her a hug. Sienna smiled a little. If there was one person in the world that can make her smile during the most depressing times was Julez.
“Hello to you to Julez. Quite a swanky place you got here,” replied Sienna as they let go of each other.
“If you think the lobby is cool, you should check out my apartment. I called in my interior designer to decorate your room and now it looks fabulous,” said Julez with a smile. Julez then led Sienna to the elevator and they both went up to the 3rd floor.
As usual the place was decorated to Julez liking. It was a chic but the rock star vibe was still there. The living room was cozy with a modern fireplace and huge windows that overlook the park. The floors were black marble and all the furniture was white.
Julez then led Sienna to her room. The theme color for the room was light pink, white and black. It had sort of a vogue theme but still had a Victorian feel to it. They both lay on the bed and looked up to the ceiling, which was a habit both of them shared. Sienna was surprised to see that the ceiling was full of writings. They were lyrics from various songs, written beautifully in cursive writing.
“Cool right? My room ceiling is also similar but with different lyrics. I thought it would be fun to do it since both of us love getting lost in words,” said Julez as she placed her hand behind her head.
“It’s very creative of you Julez,’ replied Sienna.
“So how are you holding up?” asked Julez.
“Not so good. My heart feels like its just been massacred. I want to be with him so bad but it’s impossible. I feel like everyone is against our relationship, nobody in the society wants us to be together. Everyone is out to kill us. Its so frustrating,” said Sienna with a hint of an angry tone in her voice.
“I want you two to be together. Everyone doesn’t see or understand the intensity of you and Darius. All they can think about is the new way of ruling the society if you two are together. All of them like the condition and the ruling of the society now. They don’t want any change. But honestly, the society has change ever since you came,” explained Julez.
“I wish the members could be as understanding as you. As much as I love him, I am furious because he was constantly with Harlow. Its like there was an obvious indication that our relationship was not meant to be but he had to make it worst by going out with Harlow and not telling me about it,” said Sienna as she curled her hand into a fist.
“You left Darius because of Harlow. Is that it?” asked Julez curiously.
“Not really. I left because of the danger. I’m getting use to the danger surrounding me now that I am in the society. But I don’t want Darius to go through it. I sometimes blame myself for the constant perils that surround Darius. I lied to him by saying that he is the reason for all the tragedy in my life but in reality, it’s the other way around. Harlow just made me realize it,” explained Sienna as she replayed the night she left him.
“I should have told you that Harlow has a habit of getting whatever she wants. I should have warned you earlier on that so you could keep an eye on Harlow ever since she went and invaded Darius. It is so weird that she just came back from the dead when you entered the society. It would be better for all of us if she just went back into hiding,” said Julez with a pissed of tone.
“Where was she before I came along?” asked Sienna out of curiosity.
“Probably burning in the depths of hell with her sister. She suddenly went missing after her sister's incident. I do not know why she is back,” replied Julez.
“What incident?” asked Sienna, who was suddenly interested in Harlow's secret life.
“2 years ago, Harlow's sister, Melaina dated this guy named Ryer. He was a couple of years older but was fantastically gorgeous. He could have given Steven Strait a run for his money. Anyway he was a member but then his family did something horrible to our society. Nobody actually knows what they did but it was really screwed up. So his family was exiled from the society. They are the only family in the history of this society that was dismembered,” explained Julez.
“What happened?”
“Ryer surprisingly took the scandal nicely. It seemed like he didn't care at all but his family was clearly pissed off. A couple of months later Melaina broke up with him because even though he had money, he had no power because he wasn't a member anymore. A week later Ryer killed himself and everyone blamed the Erasmus sisters,” finished Julez with both eyebrows raised high in her forehead.
“What does Harlow have to do with his death?”
“She was the one that discovered his body, hanging from the ceiling in her room at Melaina's apartment. Everyone believed Harlow was involved in it too or else why would Ryer hang himself in her room?” replied Julez solemnly.
“Do you think....” said Sienna as she instantly thought of Darius.
“Don't think that way. Nothing is going to happen to Darius,” said Julez reassuringly.
There it was, the truth about Harlow. Sienna thought that breaking up with someone just because he lost all his powers was immensely stupid. Did the break up really drove Ryer to kill himself? Is she really responsible for the death of Ryer?
One thing that concerned Sienna was Darius's safety. Harlow did not literally kill anyone but that did not stop Sienna from worrying. Who knew what Harlow was capable of doing? Everyone in the society is completely unpredictable and everyone seems to have a dark secret. All Sienna hoped for was the security of her one and only. Just because they were not meant to be does not mean she stopped distressing.
