Chapter 29
“Where is she? Sienna!” shouted Julez the moment she stepped through Jesse’s mansion door. Julez frantically walked through the hall, opening every door to look for her best friend.
“I swear to god Jesse, if anything happens to her….” Threatened Julez as she walked to the living room. The navy cushions on the sofa were still immaculately in place and there was no indication that someone vacated the living room. Julez continued her search through the enormous ground floor of the mansion.
Jesse stood by the hall of his house, watching his twin sister run around in worry. He would have happily told her which room Sienna was in if Julez would just slow down. Seeing his sister acting apprehensive made Jesse a little agitated. How could Julez think that he would hurt Sienna? Julez should know better that Jesse already learned his lesson and that he would never put Sienna in danger again. Where was the trust?
A wave of relief swept through Julez when she saw Sienna sitting by the kitchen island. Sienna looked tensed, her eyes were closed and Julez could faintly hear the hardcore beat coming from Sienna’s earplugs.
Sienna gave a small smile at the sight of Julez. Julez’s anxious eyes made Sienna remember all the worried stares she got from the people she loved. It was overwhelming that a number of people cared so much for her safety. But at the same time, there was a portion of people that wanted her gone.
“Are you okay? Did the jackass try to do anything?” asked Julez as she hugged Sienna’s shoulders. The word Jackass that was clearly referred to Jesse which made Sienna wonder if the twins ever had the same amount of reliance since her near death experience.
“Thankfully and surprisingly, Jesse didn’t try to kill me and please Julez, don’t call your brother a jackass,” said Sienna as she turned off her Ipod.
“Thank you…” replied Jesse as he took a sip of Evian water.
“Even though he is one,” commented Sienna back with an icy stare to Jesse. Suddenly the doorbell rang and Jesse made an excuse to leave the kitchen. Jesse opened the door and immediately whiffed the smell of sweet scented flowers. Standing there in her purple Marc Jacobs dress under her tweed Chanel coat was Teagan. A lascivious smirk flitted on Jesse’s face as she entered without invitation.
“Everything all right?” asked Teagan as she entered the kitchen. Sienna’s face lit up at the sight of her friend.
“Hey you,” said Sienna as they both hugged each other.
“Thanks for coming Teagan,” said Julez.
“It is not a problem but I do have some bad news,” replied Teagan with a serious tone. She tucked a strand of her blondish chestnut hair behind her ear and looked straight at Jesse as he set foot in the kitchen.
“Apparently your bitch-of-an-ex-girlfriend is after Sienna and she knows her location. So I’m sorry Sienna but you can’t stay with Julez. It is too risky,” explained Teagan. That piece of news made Sienna shiver in panic. It seemed that Lexy is a more cunning person than she thought.
“So where am I going to stay? Certainly not here, right?” asked Sienna as she tried to block away the horrific images of her staying under the same roof as Jesse. Even though he has apologized, the full sense of trust was not there yet.
“With Jesse? Hell no!” said Julez.
“Hello? Jesse is right here. All 3 of you are under my roof. Do you see me grabbing the knife and starting a homicide? Could you girls stop talking to me like I’m the next Jack Ripper? I brought Sienna here for safety and she is completely unharmed. Don’t I credit for that?” expressed Jesse with frustration.
“ No, you do not get credit because once upon a time you were in a conspiracy to kill her,” said Julez callously.
“ Plus the person that is out to get Sienna happens to be your derange ex-girlfriend. That means no kudos for you Jesse,” continued Teagan with an ironic smile.
“So where am I going to stay then?” intruded Sienna, exasperated by the bickering of her friends.
“Is your place available? How about Meraille or Lisette?” asked Julez. Sienna felt uncomfortable at the thought of her having to stay at her friends’ houses. She has nothing against her girlfriends but she does not want to burden her friends. Besides Sienna was not close to Teagan, Meraille and Lisette the way she is close with Julez. She kept thinking why can’t she just rent some small loft in the middle of nowhere and stay there quietly.
“ I would really love you to stay with me Sienna but it is not the most peaceful time at my house. My parents are getting a divorce so things are a little hectic. Meraille apparently is training for the national swimming meet and Lisette is busy taking baking classes before starting college.”
“Can I say something?” asked Sienna.
“Sure you can but it is not necessary to ask for permission. You are going to be the next monarch of the society. Monarchs do not ask for consent. You know, we should benefit this hiding time of yours. We should train you so you can be ready to face anybody that tries to lay a hand on you,” said Teagan, impressed by her brilliant idea.
“Train you to become the next great monarch,” said Julez, agreeing with Teagan’s proposition.
“What makes you guys think that I can be a great ruler? I can’t even take care of myself,” protested Sienna. The words of her friends were big but she still felt small.
“ Do not worry, you’ll be a great leader. You are a Masenfer. Sovereignty is in your blood,” said Jesse, which surprised everyone. The girls assumed that all this time he was trying so hard to keep his position in the society. Sienna saw the genuineness in Jesse’s eyes was instantly staggered. Jesse had faith in her, which strengthen her trust in him a little.
“So where do I get this training because I really want to learn how to defend myself. I can’t stand being so vulnerable,” said Sienna as she lightly shook her head in self-annoyance.
“Knight,” said Jesse instantly. With that one word, Teagan’s perfectly manicured eyebrow arched in lasciviousness. Julez on the other hand bit the side of her lip like a naughty little girl. Jesse just rolled his eyes at the sight of the girls’ response. That made Sienna suddenly fascinated and curious with the somewhat salacious reactions of her girlfriends.
“What’s a Knight?” asked Sienna ignorantly.
